Summer is almost here and for those jetting away to sunnier climates in the next few weeks chances are you are looking to tone up and get a bikini body before you go! Many now may rush to join a gym but that may blow the budget and mean you are paying the monthly membership costs for at least the next year, potentially wasted money if you are a regular gym-goer!

There are various ways in which you can get fit on a budget; here are a few of our favourite methods.

Running Outside
This is relatively straight forward and doing it on a regular basis can give great results and running through your local area is much more fun than running on a treadmill. If you like the stats a treadmill offers plan a route using Google maps and take note of the mileage then use a stopwatch whilst you are out and record the length of time it takes you. Divide the time by the mileage and then you have your speed!

Youtube
Instead of going to an exercise class or buying a fitness DVD do it completely free by delving into the huge selection of videos on Youtube. There are many available from Yoga to Spinning that are filmed by those instructors that run the classes at local gyms and it is a great way to exercise in the privacy of your own home.

Local Deals Website
Keep watching the local deals available in your area. Although this won’t give you a free method of working out it will be significantly cheaper! Popular offers that are frequently available on sites such as Living Social, Wowcher and Groupon include short Pilates and Yoga courses, gym membership for a single month and outdoor boot camps for fast results!

Fitness Apps
If your iPhone never leaves your side then you should take a look at the variety of applications in the app store available! There are a range of free and paid apps which encourage you to exercise and record your results giving the all-important motivation! The apps cover simple step counting, workout planning, tips and guidance. Some worth mentioning are MyFitnessPal and BeatBurn.
